Actor
Bill Cosby was at the
Navy Memorial yesterday being honored for his service,
reports Yeas & Nays. He was made an honorary Chief Petty Officer.
Cosby was wearing a Navy officer's jacket and hat, though he was humble about his service in the Navy. He told a story about not making it through a fire drill -- "I was told, because it's a drill, to go over where the dead people were because I had walked through the fire,"
Cosby said. He also told reporters, "This gives me a chance to go back in my life to my Navy days and pretend that I stayed in."
He then did a stand-up comedy routine to a group of sailors in attendance.
Cosby served in the Navy for four years.
