Amtrak will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary on Saturday with an event at
Union Station called
National Train Day.
National Train Day is taking place in a number of cities, but here in D.C. there will be several exhibit trains from historic cars to modern-day ones. There will also be model trains and exhibits on topics such as how dining on trains has evolved and how trains played a part in the Civil War.
The event is free and is open from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The signature event for
National Train Day nationwide will be here in Washington and
Gladys Knight,the Grammy-award winner and spokesperson for
National Train Day, will open the festivities.
