MLK Jr. Library WILL be open on Sundays!
As part of the 2012 budget cuts, the library had announced its plan to close on Sundays. The change was to have gone into effect this Sunday, October 2nd. This morning, Mayor Gray announced that the $316,000 needed to keep it open has been found in the budget, and the Library will remain open from 1p-5p, as it has since the library opened in 1972.
This Sunday at 1pm, you can catch Mayor Gray, Councilmember Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6), who chairs the Council’s Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation and Planning, and Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper, who will be on hand to welcome District residents.
