What Gallery Place could have been

The National Building Museum has an exhibit opening in November about projects that were proposed for Washington, but never came to be.   The numerous plains for the Capitol and the Washington Monument are among them, but there are some other surprises, which the Washington Business Journal has chronicled.

Such as the Far East Trade Center, which was proposed in 1984 for the site that is now Gallery Place.  Later, once construction of the Verizon Center began, interest in the Far East Trade Center was renewed and the sketch below was proposed.  How different our neighborhood could have been!
