With Halloween just a week away, it's time to start planning, Penn Quarter. Take a look at our roundup, and by all means, let us know what we've missed.
FOR KIDS
- Haunted Halloween Pop-Ups at the National Building Museum.
- October 29th, 10a-2p
- $10/members; $15/non-members; adults are free. Prepaid registration required.
- Decorate a haunted house pop-up to take home from Carol Barton. Other crafts and treats will be on hand.
- Recommended ages 6+.
- Halloween Festivities at the MLK Library and Calvary Baptist Church
- October 29th, 2p-6p.
- Start at the MLK library for story time, refreshments, and trick-or-treating around the library.
- Join the costume parade from MLK Library to Calvary Baptist Church. Balloons will be handed out to promote the downtown playground effort.
- Parade over to the Calvary Baptist Church for crafts, treats a costume contest and even a moon bounce for the Creepy Crawly Fun Filled Halloween Party from 4-6p.
- Make National Archives themed jack-o-lanterns
- Check out the Archives' tumblr page for templates, because as the folks at the National Archives say, "History + Halloween = awesome jack-o-lanterns." We know you've always wanted a pumpkin with "Bill of Rights" carved into it.
- Kids & Candy at the National Crime and Punishment Museum.
- October 30th, 1p-6p.
- $10/costumed child; $10/adults (purchase tickets at the door or email events@crimemuseum.org)
- You'll get a regular museum tour, a Police Academy Jr. activity sheet, some time with McGruff the Crime Dog, finger print ID cards, and of course, candy.
- Operation Disguise at the International Spy Museum
- Now through October 31st
- Wear a mustache in and get $5 off the admission price
- Stop by on October 29th for the free disguise/makeup event between 12 and 7p.

- BYT's A Night at the Newseum IV in 3D
