According to the Washington DC Economic Partnership, we can expect 675,000 square feet of shopping in downtown by the fall of 2013, and 1.1 million square feet by the spring of 2018.
In short, the few square blocks pictured below will have the same amount of shopping area as Pentagon City Mall (821,024 square feet) and The Shops at Wisconsin Place (305,000 square feet) put together.
According to the report, this kind of square footage positions Penn Quarter and downtown in general to be the primary shopping destination for the entire region. Bring on the sales!
