According to a survey at
Food & Wine, the most talented up-and-coming chef in the Mid-Atlantic lives and works right here in Penn Quarter:
Mike Isabella. He beat out the others "because he's translating the simple Italian-American flavors of his childhood into a refined, well-edited Mediterranean menu." Many of his competitors were in Philly, Pittsburgh, and Virginia, but locally, he beat out
Nicholas Stefanelli at
Bibiana and
Karen Nicolas at
Equinox.
