A gin and tonic please, Wolf

Wolf Blitzer bartending
Penn Quarter's Cuba Libre opened its doors for veteran CNN camera man Jerry Thompson.

Thompson was recently diagnosed with brain cancer, and an event at Cuba Libre was organized to raise money to build a trust for his three children, The Hill reports.

Wolf Blitzer was a guest bartender at the event, along with local news anchor Wendy Rieger

There was also a silent auction, featuring many items from Thompson's friends in the media, such as a tour of Meet the Press, a personalized Larry King voicemail and signed suspenders and stays at vacation homes in Deep Creek, Myrtle Beach and Kill Devil Hills.

Teri Schultz of NPR flew in from Belgium for the event.

When Thompson entered the room with his young son, the over 400 attendees started chanting "JerryJerry!"
