Graffiato finds a location

You may have heard that chef Mike Isabella left as executive chef of Zatinya.  The former Top Chef star left to open his own "Italian-inspired" restaurant and has been actively looking for space.

Well he has found that space, according to the Douglas Development Corporation.

Isabella will be opening a restaurant called Graffiato (website, blog, twitter, facebook)  at 707 6th Street N.W. - that's 6th street between G and H streets.

“DC is really coming into it’s own as a ‘foodie’ city,” says Douglas Jemal, President of Douglas Development. Jemal adds, “Mike Isabella’s restaurant will be a great addition to the District’s restaurant scene, and we look forward to working with him. I’m confident that DC residents and visitors will readily welcome Graffiato and enjoy its convenient location in Penn Quarter, close to all the restaurants, shops, and museums.”

The restaurant will be two levels and will feature a large wood-fire oven on the first floor, a charcuterie bar on the second floor, and seating for up to 150 guests.

The restaurant is also expected to open late to accommodate Penn Quarter's ever-expanding late-night scene.

Graffiato should bring some much-needed vibrancy to a small part of that block that is a bit blighted.
