National Train Day is taking place in a number of cities, but here in D.C. there will be several exhibit trains from historic cars to modern-day ones.  There will also be model trains and exhibits on topics such as how dining on trains has evolved and how trains played a part in the Civil War.

The event is free and is open from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The signature event for National Train Day nationwide will be here in Washington and Gladys Knight, the Grammy-award winner and spokesperson for National Train Day, will open the festivities.
