Community Hearing set to consider Verizon Center billboards

The new Verizon Center jumbotrons are still on the agenda, despite a formerly canceled hearing to consider them.

A new hearing has been set for TONIGHT, January 31st at 7:00 p.m.  This meeting is not to reschedule the above hearing, but is instead a separate Advisory Neighborhood Commission public space hearing.

The meeting will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, at 755 8th Street N.W.

The Verizon Center will be present to discuss the jumbotrons and the audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions.

At its next meeting, the Advisory Neighborhood Commission will vote on a recommendation to the D.C. Council.

To prep for the meeting, you can check out this summary of the Verizon Jumbotron Billboard Act and these renderings of the proposed digital billboards.

Whether you think the light pollution would be overwhelming or you like the urbanization and Times Square feel of Penn Quarter, tonight is the time to get your voice heard.  The Advisory Neighborhood Commission vote will be very persuasive to the D.C. Council.
