Government shutdown and the National Cherry Blossom Festival

Despite the fact that the District will also shutdown if the federal government does, and the fact that many Cherry Blossom Festival events rely on Park Police or are held on federal government property, the Festival is planning on going forward as planned.

The Cherry Blossom Festival released this statement today:

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is working closely with partners and government agencies to monitor the potential Government Shutdown and how it could affect weekend events. Through these partnerships, we are discussing alternate plans and are optimistic that the Festival Parade and other Festival events will move forward as scheduled. Updates will be posted in this space.
