Lobster restaurant coming to Penn Quarter

Gifford's Ice Cream at 10th and E Streets may have closed, but, in a way, it's coming back.

You may have noticed the retail space in the Clara Barton at 7th and E has been covered with brown paper.

Prince of Petworth says they have "92.7% confidence" in a rumor that Luke's Lobster is coming in that space.  Luke's Lobster is a restaurant that specializes in lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls--and they also sell Gifford's Ice Cream.  Their signature lobster roll includes whole lobster on a bun with mayo a sprinkle of lemon butter, and a blend of secret spices.

They have several locations in New York, which have been super successful.  There is not much like Luke's Lobster in Penn Quarter, and it would be a great addition.  Apparently the places in New York are packed.  The space in the Clara Barton does not look that big, it wouldn't take much to fill it with people.

See Luke's Lobster's menu here.

  6. It is just a rumor; however, the DCMud article refers to 622 I street N.W. and not 616 E Street.

  7. The storefront shown in your photo is 622 E St, not 616 E St. DCMud likely got the letter wrong but the number right.
