MegaBus runs shuttle to Union Station, wants to move buses there

You may have seen our previous post about MegaBus and BoltBus being required to move from the Convention Center lot because City Center is being built.

MegaBus's location is not nearly as good as BoltBus's.  It is further away from downtown and union station and not near a metro station.  BoltBuses new location, on the other hand, is so close to Union Station, it seems almost weird to have it.

MegaBus, however, is not in Union Station at all - but they want to be.

But Dale Moser, CEO of Megabus' parent company Coach USA, tells TBD that the bus line's ultimate goal is to get a slot at Union Station itself. "We would like very much to be inside Union Station, and we're working towards achieving that goal," he said. "Hopefully, this is just a short-term stop location."

No word on when the move will happen, but Moser does say he is in talks with management at Union Station.

Currently, MegaBus's website says "This stop will be temporary whilst we evaluate and negotiate a longer term solution" when referring to the D.C. stop.

MegaBus is also offering a free shuttle from Union Station to their new stop.  The shuttle will operate from the new stop to Union Station on the 15's and 45's of each hour between 6:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. The shuttle will operate from Union Station on 1st St NE just south of G St. NE on the 0's and 30's of each hour from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
