The
Washington Business Journal reports on the economic boom our neighborhood receives from the
NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament currently going on at the
Verizon Center.
RFD, for example, is expecting a 10-20% jump in revenue this weekend.
The games started at 12:40 p.m. today, and basketball seems to take precedence over work (as well it should).
Clyde’s opened an hour early and
Green Turtle was open for business two hours early (9 a.m.) for the lunchtime game between
Butler and
Old Dominion (
Butler won 60 to 58).
The crowds are certainly swarming in Penn Quarter. NCAA basketball is enough, but add
St. Patrick's Day on top of it, and
our numerous Irish Pubs and it's going to get very crowded in our neighborhood.
