Smoke is bellowing out of 10th Street between E and F in the heart of Penn Quarter. DCist has a great picture here.
They suspect it is a broken pipe under the street, but emergency crews are continuing to investigate. Either way, traffic is going to be a problem in this area for a bit and you may want to avoid it. Neither pedestrians or automobiles are allowed up the street right now.
