Being as close as we are to the Smithsonian museums, it can be easy to forget about local, independent galleries and collections here in DC. If it's been awhile, consider heading over to the Shaw Art Walk next Wednesday, February 8th.At 6:30 pm, the Convention Center will host a tour of the extensive art collection that's housed inside. The tour will last an hour, which still gives you ample time to head over to the six participating galleries in Shaw: Civilian Art Projects, Contemporary Wing, Lamont Bishop Gallery, Long View Gallery, Maruka Gallery and Boutique, and Touchstone Gallery. Galleries will be open until 9 pm - and then participants are "encouraged to enjoy the art of the cocktail" at The Passenger.
